  • Cooking and Healthy Eating with Global Chill- for Youth 13-19

    July 18 through August 31
    Mondays and Wednesdays noon to 2pm
    including lunch – as you learn how to make it!
    At the South Park Hall kitchen
    1253 S. Cloverdale St.

    Global Chill is a local catering company-food revolution by Daneca Tran! Learn how to cook plant based, healthy meals mixed up with radical kindness and the spirituality coming from South East Asian food cultures, and getting by in this crazy world.

  • Creative Self Expression- Visual Arts - for Youth 13-19!

    July 18 through August 31

    Mondays and Wednesdays 2-4pm

    At the South Park Idea Lab 1251 unit B (upstairs) S. Cloverdale St

    With local artists Emily Candela McLaughlin and Daneca Tran, and guest artist speakers. We’ll learn about and practice different visual arts tools and styles, paper making and book making, so you make your own art book of your experiences!

  • Create Your Own Styles- Sewing, Fashion Art & Clothing Alteration - for Youth 13-19!

    July 21 through August 25

    Thursdays 4-5pm + open work time 5-6:30pm

    Dinner provided after- stay and eat or take home! At the South Park Idea Lab 1251 unit B (upstairs) S. Cloverdale St.

    With local artist Emily Candela McLaughlin and guest fashion/sewing artist speakers. Learn sewing basics, by hand and on a machine, use commercial clothing patterns, do some alterations and repairs, alter your old clothes with new cuts, stitching and dyeing/bleach brushing decoration, and screen printing your graphic designs !

  • Digital Music Mixing- for Youth 13-19!

    August 7 through September 25- no class August 21

    Sundays 2-4pm with snack break

    At the South Park Idea Lab 1251 unit B (upstairs) S. Cloverdale St.

    Students will learn the basics of music production with recording artist Lex Dye! Over the 7 weeks of the class students will build tracks, gain feedback on them, and give feedback on others' work. Those who take this class will get a real feel for the music creation process.

  • Bohemian Dance (based in Bellydance Traditions) - for Youth and Adults!

    August 8 through September 26

    Mondays 7-8pm

    At the South Park Hall 1253 S. Cloverdale St.

    Join Layla May Hashemi for a fun filled hour of building your mind / body connection.

    This all level course is great for beginners and a fabulous brush up for experienced dancers. It is also the first class to get you started on the Bohemian Belt program. This class is the foundation of the Bohemian Format and will improve your dance technique in Fragments, BATS, Sword work and is a part of the Bohemian Teacher Training.

    Classes will consist of a warm up, dance technique break down, drills, combinations and a cool down.

    This last round of classes have wrapped up already, you can read the description of the last classes here: “Join Dennis Diaz 4:30-6:30 pm meeting at the Idea Lab 1251 #B S. Cloverdale St, and then walking to practice seeing the world in a new way. With whatever camera you have or your phone, plus disposable film cameras and some loaner digital cameras to play with. Pizza provided!”

  • Qi Gong- Medicinal Movement at the South Park Community Center Field

    All Tuesdays in June at 2pm

    Move with your energy, your chi, towards better physical and mental health with this peaceful and ancient martial art, guided by Daneca Tran.
    Qi gong is a system of coordinated body-posture and movement, breathing, and meditation used for the purposes of health, spirituality, and martial-arts training, and has been practiced in China and around Asian cultures for thousands of years.

  • Paint Your Self Happy evenings

    Next one is Sunday July 24 6-9pm!

    Come chill out, pick up a paintbrush, put down your fears and worries for a few hours. If you paint all the time or never have before, you are equally welcome to take some time for yourself to relax. Feel your creative energy start to flow with the colors, your thoughts to ease up in creating patterns, or get into your groove painting projects, still lifes, or even models we’ll have available. Hosted by Emily Candela McLaughlin. Usually Sunday evenings once a month from 6-10pm at the Idea Lab: 1251 unit B S. Cloverdale St (upstairs in back of Resistencia Coffee)

  • Welcome Full Moon Open Music Jams

    Next one is Sunday July 31 at the South Park Hall 7-10pm!

    Bring whatever drum or instrument you play or play around on, or your voice to join in. Held on or near the Full Moon monthly, this is also a time for healing, good energy vibes, and inclusive kindness in finding flow together. Let out your freestyle flow and reconnect with healing energies of music and rhythm. Jam session, ceremony, and potluck hosted by Daneca Tran. Sunday evenings once a month from 7-10pm at the South Park Hall.

  • Healing Community Movement

    Healing through movement not judgment. Come move your body forward through dance. We focus on all parts of the body and joints. Show your body love, close your eyes and listen to the sounds that will jolt your body wherever it wants to go. No experience necessary. Your guide in this movement and music healing is Melanie Granger!
